Pedro “Pete” Armijo, 84 of Albuquerque, died Sept. 6, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Armijo; his children, Anthony Armijo ’82, Annette (Steve) Jaramillo, Darlene ’87 (Dominico) Encinias, Karen ’88 (Marco)  Gonzalez, and Ramona ’94 (Daniel) Barboa; thirteen grandchildren, including Mark’ 15, Michael ’18, and Matthew Gonzalez ’18, Nicolas ’15 and Jacob ’18 Encinias; and one great-grandchild.

Carlos Gilberto Baca, age 82 of Albuquerque, died July 24, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Chavez Baca; sister, Lila Tallon; children, Carlos G. Baca Jr. ’78 and wife Ann and children, Andrew and Lauren; son, Christopher ’80; daughter, Geri Stahl, her son Michael Larazolo, wife Sara, children Caleb, Saige and Soiyer; son, Dennis F. Baca and Donna Semones his children, David and wife Heather, children Emily, Salem and Samuel; son, David, wife Jolene and children Olivia, Abigail and Katie; daughter, Angela West and Joey Valenti, her daughter Amber; honorary son and brother, Robert J. Rambes.

Frank J. Chaves Sr., age 91 of Anaheim, Calif., died on July 16, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicodemus Chavez and Petrita Pena as well as brothers Paul, Eloy, Manuel ’65, Dan, Ben, and Nick. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Fina Chaves; sons Frank Jr., Anthony, and Adam (Caren); sister, Avelina Battaglia; brothers, Richard and Alex (Nadine);  nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

DeAnna Lynn Countryman 84, age 54 of Tempe, Arizona, died July 3, 2020. DeAnna worked for America West Airlines and owned her own rose business. She is survived by her husband Carl Countryman; daughters, Chelsea Cotitta (fiancé Michael Meehleib), Carly Cotitta (Joe Tegen), Jennifer Countryman, and Maria Avalos; son Carl Countryman Jr. (Samantha); grandchildren Colten and Nico; and special to her heart Maria and Ricardo; siblings, Mary Therese Hyatt, Joanne McCoy (Mike) Paula Cotitta, Patti Cotitta, Jim Cotitta, and Laura Husler.

Father Samuel Falbo, age 87 of Las Vegas, Nev., died August 3, 2020. He was ordained in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe on May 28, 1960. He celebrated his 60th year in the priesthood in May. He taught at St. Pius X High School and served at other Archdiocesan institutions in New Mexico for over 45 years prior to retiring. In July 2006, Father Falbo moved to the Diocese of Las Vegas and continued his service to our Lord and beloved Church. Surviving are his sister, Marie Mazzoni (Angelo), Archbald, PA.

Ann Margaret Martinez ’83, age 54 of Albuquerque, died July 14, 2020. Ann worked for several companies as an accountant and a recruiter and at the time of her passing she was Director of Finance and Operations at Manzano Day School in Albuquerque. Ann is survived by her children Sarah and Josh Rippberger, her sister Mary Garcia ’80 (Danny),  and brothers Daniel ’75 (Diana), Michael ’76, Ruben ’77 (Karen), Robert ’79, Victor ’82, Vincent ’82. In lieu of flowers Ann has requested donations to The Make A Wish Foundation or Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Matthew Robert Martinez ’06, age 32 of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly on May 1, 2020. He is survived by his mother, Tammy Martinez, his father Jose delaluz Martinez, his brother Phillip Martinez, and his daughter Arianna Martinez.

Rebecca Koller Moran ’83, of Albuquerque, died July 31, 2020. A graduate of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., Becky taught at San Felipe, St. Mary’s and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Schools. Her survivors include her husband Paul and children Patrick and Sarah Moran, her parents John and Joan Koller, sister Katherine Koller Vogt, brothers Steve (Susan), Mike (Paula), and Paul (Debbie) Koller.

Ferrell Thomas O’Rourke, age 90 of Albuquerque, died May 24, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Pattie of 57 years; sons, Michael ’82 (Joanne) and  John ’84 (Enedina); daughter, Theresa; seven grandchildren; and sister, Patricia (Art). 

Sophia Pergola ’20 of Albuquerque died in July 2020.

Carol Ann Ballard Pressley, age 79 of Albuquerque, died in May 2020. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca ’87 (Brian ’87), her son Matt, and seven grandchildren.

Matthew David Reitzel ’09, age 29, died August 4, 2020 from a fast and overwhelming blood infection. He was Ranch Foreman and Partner in his family’s ranch, Esperanza Land and Cattle L.L.C. in Cebolla, N.M. He was a Certified Sawyer, and a Wild Land Firefighter. He is survived by his parents, Dina and Jim Reitzel; his sister Elizabeth Reitzel 08 (Britney Choy); and his grandparents, Charlie and Geralda Chacon of Espanola.

Betty Ruth Statzula, age 93 of Albuquerque, died May 31, 2020.  She is survived by her five children, Joe ’76 (Diana) Statzula, John Statzula ’78, Melissa ’80 (Tim) Eyer, Thomas ’82 (Jeanine) Statzula, and Caroline Statzula, 10 grandchildren including Michael Statzula ’18 and 14 great-grandchildren.

Helen May Urbane, age 87 of Albuquerque, died May 24, 2020. She is survived by her four children, Mimi Flores Y Urbane (Rolando), Terri Keller ’80, (Mark), Mark Urbane ’81, and Trish McCracken (Brett), and nine grandchildren.

Melissa L. Vargas, 49  of Albuquerque, died May 30, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mario; her two sons, Alexander ’18 and Nicholas ’21; her mother Donna Lerch; and her brother, Matthew Anderson (Tara).
