Sports - Spring 2021

As St. Pius X High School entered a hybrid schedule in March 2021 with interested students attending in person twice a week, the doors opened for all sports to begin abbreviated seasons that began with the fall sports of football, soccer and volleyball in March. Winter and spring sports will continue through June. Go Sartans!

Marcus GarciaAaron DellerSenior Marcus Garcia has been selected to play in the 10th annual boys High School All-American Soccer Game May 29 in St. Louis, Mo. The All-American Game will feature 45 of the country’s top players in an East-West matchup. Garcia is the only New Mexican on the West All-American roster, which is composed only of seniors, according to the Albuquerque Journal. Garcia signed late last year to play for the University of Maryland.

In football, Aaron Deller has been invited to play for the west squad in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl on May 24 at the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium. The senior offensive and defensive lineman has committed to St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.

Committing to continue their athletic endeavors at the next level are Megan Dennis, Corban University (Salem, Ore.) Volleyball; Alyssa Doty, Adams State University (Alamosa, Colo.) Women’s Soccer; and Katrina Kelley, Regis University (Denver, Colo.) Cross Country.

Around Campus – Spring 2021

The New Mexico Art Education Association (NMAEA), in conjunction with the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, awarded 11 St. Pius X High School visual arts students with 16 New Mexico Scholastic Art Awards in the 2021 juried competition.
